This is one of the most valuable things an experienced storm contractor can do for you — and most homeowners never ask for it.
What adjusters miss
Insurance adjusters inspect dozens of roofs per day during catastrophe periods. They miss things — particularly on metal edges, pipe boots, HVAC flashing, and areas where hail impact leaves subtle bruising rather than obvious missing shingles. An experienced contractor knows exactly where to look.
What your contractor can do during the inspection
- Point out damage the adjuster hasn't noticed or documented
- Challenge line items that seem underpriced based on local material costs
- Document everything with photos and measurements as a backup record
- Create a paper trail if you need to dispute the adjuster's findings later
How to set this up
When you file your claim, ask your insurer for the adjuster's inspection date as soon as possible. Give your contractor as much notice as you can. Most experienced storm contractors build this into their process automatically.
